Request For Concept For Bukit Jambul Country Club

 Island Golf Properties Bhd (IGP), which operates the Bukit Jambul Country Club (BJCC), would like to invite local and international companies to submit proposals to manage the operation of the Club and develop its assets, on a lease or joint venture basis.    This is in line with the State’s initiative to elevate BJCC to an international standard, unlock the value of the golf club, to establish a stable path for long term growth and profitability, and to promote international and domestic golfing tourism in the State.

BJCC is strategically located on the Island of Penang.  It has an 18-hole international golf course of 140 acres which was designed by the well-renowned golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jr.  Other facilities of the club include squash, swimming, tennis and other forms of social, sporting and recreational activities for its 2000 over principal members.  BJCC has recently upgraded its main clubhouse building. The new facilities being enjoyed by its members include a golfers’ terrace restaurant, banquet hall, games room, music lounge and karaoke room.

BJCC has immense potential to become a premier golf club in the region due to its good locality 10 minutes from the Penang International Airport, attractive design and excellent infrastructure system. BJCC also shows the potential of hosting international event such as the Malaysian Open.

Tenders are now open to interested and reputable companies that meet the following criteria:
(a) The paid-up capital should be at least 500,000 Ringgit Malaysia.
(b) Demonstrate experience in golf club operations and golf tourism management.
(c) Have good local and international golf network affiliation 
(d) Have strong local content
(e) Demonstrate strong commitment and alignment of interest with the State, in the project
(f) Highlight other economic and social benefits to the State

The tenderer is required to submit the following documents:
(i) Proposal with plans comprising the following:
•  Vision and mission of the bidder in relation to this tender (on how it fulfils the State’s 
   aspirations)
•  Management of the Club, including retaining and retraining as many as possible of the 
   existing staff
• Development of the Club’s assets (into hotel or serviced apartments)
• Upgrading of the Club’s facilities and golf course with minimal disruption to the existing 
  usage of the Club
• Estimated overall financial commitment
(ii) Bidder’s profile and its experience in the golf operations and golf tourism management industry
(iii) Audited financial statements for the last 3 years of the Bidder (or consortium members) and other financial supporting documents
